PhilaMOCA
callowhill
philamoca, the philadelphia mausoleum of contemporary art, is an art and performance space in the old finney & son building, a showroom where people used to pick out mausoleums and tombstones back in th 1860s. diplo used it as a studio before it became philamoca around 2010, and eric bresler has run it since 2012. it hosts all sorts of concerts, film screenings, wrestling, burlesque, and art exhibits. the room fits around 175 and has no bar setup. it's survived a zoning shutdown and a threat of closure over code violations, both times with the community behind it.
