The Dolphin

south philly21+ only

the dolphim, aka the dolphin tavern, is a dive bar and dance club on south broad street that opened in 1955 as a go-go bar and was the first stop for sailors coming in from the navy yard. it reopened in 2013 with the old go-go photos still on the walls, and again in 2021 after the pandemic with a kitchen, a new stage, and the sound system from boot & saddle. it’s mostly a dance spot, with a pulsing light wall and dj nights across disco, house, and 2000s hip hop, plus queer parties, live bands, and theme nights, usually thursday through saturday.
